| | Some History, general interest: I have a keen interest in radio control aircraft, fishing, gardening, dabble in homebrew, electronics, computers and home preserving...(the DIY style of things have an addictive like appeal to keep my somewhat drifting mind active?). I am now into learning affiliate marketing. Brief Work History: I joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a youngster in 1972, progressing through the ranks to retire in 1992 as a Systems Engineer, ground support equipment (specialized equipment used in the support of aircraft and workshop equipment.) I began a new career direction in 1992 with a chemical company, and was trained as a Chemical Plant operator. Interesting occupation this, making sticky stuff from some pretty nasty base compounds! I progressed up the pecking order within the company and took on an active unionist role as the shop steward for my fellow workers. I had to retire from this new career due to ill health in 98 and have surprised the medics that I'm still around to annoy them! Any way, enough ramblings. Some Pics: | This is a very old picture that was taken by the RAAF photographic unit at the RAAF Laverton airfield. I was prepping the old bird with the aid of my pit crew, (Left to right - my sons, Justin and Matthew). Matthew has only recently taken up the sport and is learning to fly. A bit of history here... um, when this picture was taken, the club was then called "RAAF Laverton Model Aero club". I was the club pres at that time. Since then the Laverton and Point Cook bases have been amalgamated and renamed to RAAF Williams, Laverton, and, Point Cook Bases. I was part of the team that helped during the process. I retired from the RAAF in 1992, and let my membership of the club lapse for a few years. I rejoined the RAAF Williams Club... (different name, same place!), however after a few I years retired due to sickness. The airfield at laverton base has been sold and is now being redeveloped as a new housing estate named Williams Landing. | Some of my old stuff.........
This was my first ducted fan, a yellow aircraft kit with a ramtec fan unit.
